Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tabs StatMonitr for Basketball Tournaments

EDISON, NJ -- The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference has reached an agreement with StatBroadcast to provide its StatMonitr stats system at the 2012 MAAC Men's and Women's Basketball championships this March in Springfield, Mass. StatBroadcast will provide both a live feed of in-game stats for media and staff via the web as well as through its wireless stat monitor system.

The MAAC Basketball Championships will take place March 1 -5, 2012 at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass. Both tournaments will feature 10 teams, with two play-in games followed by a standard tournament bracket. Eight of the preliminary round games will be available on ESPN3, with Saturday's championships games appearing on the ESPN networks: the women's championship will air on ESPNU at noon and the men's championship will be shown on ESPN/ESPN2 at 7pm. The tournament moves to Springfield for the first of a three-year contract with the MassMutual Center; last year's tournament was held in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

The MAAC is a NCAA Division I athletic conference that operates in the northeastern region of the country and consists of Catholic or formerly Catholic instituions, witt Rider University being the only exception. The 10 team conference was founded in 1980 with an automatic bid in basketball being added in 1984. Current MAAC conference members Loyola Maryland, Iona and Saint Peter's are all StatBroadcast clients. The MAAC will be the eighth conference basketball tournament to use StatBroadcast's statistics technologies.
