NCAA to use StatBroadcast's StatMonitr at 2011 Men's Frozen Four Ice Hockey Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Fresh off its successful deployment of StatBroadcast's StatMonitr technology at all sites of the Men's and Women's Division-I basketball tournaments, the NCAA has expanded its agreement with StatBroadcast to provide its StatMonitr live stats system for on-site media at the 2011 Men's Frozen Four Ice Hockey Championship at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn. on April 7 and 9.

The Frozen Four are the semi-finals and finals of the Division-I Ice Hockey Championship. The NCAA Men's Division I Ice Hockey Championship is a single elimination competition that has determined the collegiate national champion since the inaugural 1948 NCAA Men's Division I Ice Hockey Tournament. The tournament features 16 teams representing all six Division I conferences in the nation. The Championship Committee seeds the entire field from 1 to 16 within four regionals of 4 teams. The winners of the six Division I conference championships receive automatic bids to participate in the NCAA Championship. The tournament begins with initial games played at four regional sites culminating with the semi-finals and finals played at a single site.

Men's Ice Hockey will represent the fourth Division-I championship that StatBroadcast has carried on its network for the NCAA in 2011. StatBroadcast also provided its services for the championship games in Division-I Football, Men's Basketball and Women's Basketball. It will also provide its services at the 2011 Men's College World Series Baseball Championship in June.
